An Update from Regan
Here is an update from Regan Bray (one of MCR's Sponsored riders) after the completion of his second season... Nice work Regan!!
Over summer I competed in my second season of the New Zealand Superbike Championship. Round 1 was held at Ruapuna in Christchurch. I felt really confident on the bike with my new YSS set up and was surprising myself with the times I was running so early on. Finished 6th overall for the weekend.
Round 2 was at Levels in Timaru. Coming into this round I was feeling confident after the week prior and because it’s the track I’m most familiar with. This lead to me pushing myself a bit too far and had a few disasters over the weekend leading me to part company with my bike on more than one occasion. I left levels 12th overall with the North Island round left.
Round 3 was to be the final round due to everyone’s favourite global virus. I had never been to Taupo before and spent the first day trying to hack the new circuit. After the weekends racing I finished Taupo 12th overall again but happy with the new knowledge of the track I came away with.
I finished the championship in 9th overall, an improvement on the year before. I’m very confident with the knowledge I gained and the continual hard work I’m going to put in over the off season and the awesome help and support I’m receiving, I will smash this result again for next year!
A massive thank you to Kevin and Terri Goddard for adopting me, I would hate to think how difficult competing would have been without them.
Another big thanks to my brother Aaron who helped me throughout the season and made life a lot easier in and out of the pits.
Tim McAuthor at @technicalracingnz for the awesome YSS suspension set up and the continual help on learning how to use it.
To Monty Hewitson for the time he took last minute to do some Dyno and ECU work.
The Otago Motorcycle Club for the Financial support, helped a lot.
MCR Dunedin for the sponsorship and support over the season again.
Pro Power who have been amazing with letting me have the amount of time off that I do to let me disappear with minimal notice.
And a big thank you to George the fibreglass man and finally to my painter, much appreciated
